Sonos Connect support in the Poconos
The Sonos Connect brings a stereo receiver or amplifier onto a Sonos system. Sonos replaced it with the Port in 2019. Later Connects still work with the current Sonos app, but earlier units are limited to the older S1 app, which gets no new features and can hold back an entire system. The usual fix is a Port in its place, wired to the same receiver.

How to tell
You probably have one if…
- A Sonos box with no speakers, connected to a receiver or amplifier with audio cables.
- The label reads CONNECT, or ZP80 / ZP90 on the earliest units.
What we see
What goes wrong.
- The Sonos app says a product in the system is not compatible.
- The whole system is stuck on the S1 app because of one older unit.
- Dropouts or a Connect that no longer appears in the app.
Your options
What we would do about it.
Cost. A four-zone Sonos system with in-ceiling speakers typically runs $6,000 to $15,000 installed. A single deck or dock zone starts around $2,400. More on Whole-Home Audio
How do I know if my Connect works with the current Sonos app?
The Sonos app identifies units that are S1-only. Broadly, Connects made from about 2015 work on the current app and earlier ones do not. We can check yours remotely or on site.
Do I need a new receiver too?
Usually not. A Port connects to the same receiver the Connect did.
Do you service the Sonos Connect in my area?
