Sonos Amp support in the Poconos

The Sonos Amp powers passive speakers — in-ceiling, in-wall, outdoor, and dock speakers — and puts them on the Sonos app. It is the backbone of most whole-home systems we build. What decides how it sounds is installation: amplifiers racked and ventilated in a closet, speakers placed and wired properly, and volume tuned per zone so one setting is not deafening in a small room.

How to tell

You probably have one if…

  • A low, square Sonos box with speaker terminals and an HDMI port on the back.
  • Usually in a rack, closet, or behind a TV.

What we see

What goes wrong.

  • Amplifiers stacked in a closed cabinet running hot.
  • Zones that are too loud or too quiet at the same volume setting.
  • More speakers wired to one Amp than it is meant to drive.

Your options

What we would do about it.

Whole-home audio

Amps racked and labeled in one location, with in-ceiling speakers that disappear into the room.

Outdoor and dock zones

Weather-rated speakers on the deck, patio, or dock, on the same app as the kitchen.

Clean up an existing install

Ventilation, wiring, and per-zone tuning on a system that is already in.

Cost. A four-zone Sonos system with in-ceiling speakers typically runs $6,000 to $15,000 installed. A single deck or dock zone starts around $2,400. More on Whole-Home Audio

Questions

Sonos Amp questions

Something not covered here? Call (267) 719-3598 and ask.

How many speakers can one Sonos Amp drive?

Typically one or two pairs, depending on the speakers. For larger zones we add amplifiers rather than overload one.

Can I use my existing ceiling speakers?

Usually yes. A Sonos Amp drives most good passive speakers you already own, and we would rather reuse decent speakers than sell you new ones.

Do you service the Sonos Amp in my area?

Yes. We are based in Pocono Pines and work on Sonos systems throughout the Poconos and Northeastern PA, including Pocono Pines, Lake Naomi, Lake Harmony, Lake Wallenpaupack, Hawley, Lake Ariel. Call (267) 719-3598 or book a walkthrough.
