The Hideout is one of the largest gated communities we work in, with a substantial amenity package and a housing stock that spans four decades. It is also one of the places where we most often walk into a system somebody else abandoned, because the sheer number of homes has attracted a lot of integrators over the years, not all of whom stayed.

Predominantly ranch and chalet-style homes on wooded lots, a large share built between the 1970s and 1990s. Panel capacity and missing neutrals in older switch boxes are the two constraints that come up most.
What owners install first
Keyless entry and freeze protection are the first two systems for most owners here, given the seasonal use. Networking is a frequent third, because community-wide service is adequate but the equipment it arrives with rarely is.

Usually, yes. Takeovers are a large share of our work — orphaned control systems, half-finished audio, networks nobody has touched in years. We assess what is there and tell you what is worth keeping.
