Control4 SR-260 Remote support in the Poconos

The SR-260 is the Control4 system remote that most Pocono houses from the 2010s came with. It is discontinued, and it is the most common thing we are called about on older systems: a remote that stops responding, controls the wrong room, or was lost and never replaced. Usually the fix is re-pairing or programming a replacement, not a system problem — but a remote cannot be bought and used out of the box, because it has to be added to the project.

How to tell

You probably have one if…

  • A long black Control4-branded remote with a full button layout, similar to a cable remote.
  • The model number is printed on the back or inside the battery door.

What we see

What goes wrong.

  • The remote stops controlling its room, or controls a different one.
  • Some buttons work only when pointed at the TV, and others not at all.
  • A lost or broken remote with no replacement programmed in.

Your options

What we would do about it.

Re-pair and reprogram

Most "dead" remotes have lost their pairing or were never programmed for the room they are in. Often a short visit, or remote work if 4Sight is active.

Replace with a current remote

Newer Control4 remotes need a current OS on the controller. We check what your system supports before recommending one.

One remote per room

Second homes often end up with one remote shared between rooms. Each room can have its own, programmed for that room.

Cost. A system assessment and takeover starts at $450. Most rescues land between $1,500 and $6,000; a full controller replacement with reprogramming runs higher. More on Control4

Questions

Control4 SR-260 Remote questions

Something not covered here? Call (267) 719-3598 and ask.

Can I just buy an SR-260 online and use it?

You can buy one, but it does nothing until someone with access to your project adds and programs it. That is a quick job, but it has to happen.

Why does my remote only work some of the time?

The SR-260 uses radio for some commands and infrared for others, so it behaves differently depending on what you are controlling. Most intermittent problems are pairing or programming and can be fixed without new hardware.
