Lighting Control in Pocono Pines

Lighting control earns its keep fastest in a house that sits empty part of the year. A house that lights itself at dusk and goes dark at bedtime reads as occupied from the road, and you never drive back up the mountain because someone left the basement on.

Lakefront and club communities

Club-community homes almost always have the same two lighting problems: a great room with a two-story glass wall that goes pitch black at dusk, and a path down to the water that nobody wants to walk in the dark. We put keypads at the lake-side door as well as the driveway door, because in a house like this people arrive from both directions, and we tie exterior and dock lighting to an astronomic timeclock so the walk to the water is lit every night whether anyone is home or not.

Local conditions

What this looks like in Pocono Pines.

The housing here

The stock here runs from original 1970s A-frames to new construction on the lakefront, and the two need very different approaches. An A-frame with knee walls and no attic access is a wiring puzzle; a 2020 build usually has conduit and a structured panel already waiting.

Connectivity

Service is comparatively good inside the club communities and gets thin fast once you are off the main roads. We check what is actually available at your address before specifying anything that depends on it.

Why owners here buy it

Most homes here are used weekends and holidays, so the systems that matter are the ones that work while nobody is watching: lighting that runs on a schedule, locks that let the cleaner in, and monitoring that calls you before a pipe does.

Scope

What is included.

From $3,500

A typical whole-home Lutron system in a 3,000 sq ft lake house lands between $8,000 and $20,000 installed, depending on how many loads get dimmed and how many keypads replace them.

  • Lutron dimmers and switches on every load worth dimming
  • Engraved keypads at entries, primary suite, and the great room
  • Scenes tuned on site at dusk, not guessed at from a spec sheet
  • Astronomic timeclock so exterior lights track sunset year-round
  • Vacancy sensors in baths, laundry, and pantries
  • App and voice control, with the wall always working first

Questions

Lighting questions from Pocono Pines homeowners

Something not covered here? Call (267) 719-3598 and ask.

Do you install lighting control in Pocono Pines?

Yes. Pocono Pines is part of our regular service area and we work throughout Monroe County, including Lake Naomi Club & Timber Trails, Pinecrest Lake, Locust Lake. We are based in Pocono Pines, so this is work we do ourselves rather than subcontract.

Do you have to rewire the house?

Almost never. Lutron RA3 and Caséta use the existing wiring — we swap the switches and add a repeater. Rewiring only comes up when a circuit has no neutral in the box, and even then there are workarounds we carry on the truck.

What happens if the internet goes out?

Every keypad and dimmer keeps working. The processor is in the house, not in a data center. You lose remote app access until the connection is back; you do not lose your lights.
